US release of John and Carole's Torchwood story

Titan Publishing will release a US Torchwood Comic on 10 August. The first issue will feature "The Selkie" which was written by John and his sister, Carole, and illustrated by Tommy Lee Edwards. This story first appeared in the British Torchwood magazine.

John is overjoyed to have worked with Tommy Lee Edwards, who he describes as one of his favourite artists. The pair began their collaboration when John and his sister Carole came across a poster of Captain Jack at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con.

"Tommy and Trevor had drawn a brilliant poster of my face super-imposed over the Face of Boe, which I think is the best piece of Captain Jack art I've seen,"" John said. "The four of us hit it off immediately and I asked if they'd ever be interested in working with us on a Captain Jack project. They thought about it for, oh, about 30 seconds, and so 'Captain Jack and the Selkie' was born!"

Panto 2010/11 - John returns to Glasgow - on a magic carpet!
(now opens 11 December 2010)

Television, film and stage star John Barrowman is to return to his native Glasgow next year when he heads the cast of the spectacular pantomime Aladdin.

The show’s producers, Qdos Entertainment, have announced that tickets are now on sale for the pantomime, one year in advance of its opening night on Saturday 11 December 2010. Aladdin marks John’s fifth pantomime season with Qdos - the largest pantomime producer in the world.

“I’m really looking forward to spending the holidays singing, dancing and having a good laugh in Glasgow next year!” says John Barrowman. “I love playing Aladdin and I think audiences will love everything about this amazing pantomime, especially the amazing 3D effects,” John added.

“We are delighted to be bringing John and our superb production of Aladdin to Glasgow’s SECC,” says Michael Harrison, Managing Director of Qdos Entertainment’s pantomime division. “John has smashed box office records wherever he has played in pantomime and I have no doubt that we will break even more records in Glasgow and stage an unmissable pantomime experience.”

Aladdin has all of the traditional elements of pantomime but with the added surprise of an array of 3D special effects. Wearing 3D glasses at certain points throughout the show the audience can rub the magic lamp as it appears in front of their nose, summon the magical 3D Genie from his lamp and join Aladdin on a superb magic carpet ride!

Aladdin runs at the SECC’s Clyde Auditorium from Saturday 11 December 2010 to Sunday 9 January 2011. Tickets priced from £12.00.

A request from John

Many of you have given John gifts over the years, and although he appreciates your thoughtfulness, he's running out of space to keep them! Rather than buying him a gift, he would ask you to support one of his chosen charities.

All donations, large or small, will help these wonderful organisations.
