around the world in 8o days
BBC1 Documentary
November 2009
In summer 2009, six pairs of celebrities set out on a relay race around the globe for BBC Children in Need. They were emulating Jules Verne's classic hero, Phileas Fogg, who accepted a bet that he could circumnavigate the globe in 80 days. There were six legs to the journey and a baton was passed betwen each team in the form of a carpet bag containing a satellite phone and diary. On their travels, the celebrities made entries in the diary and collected items which, along with the carpet bag and diary, were auctioned for Childen in Need.
John and his celebrity team member, Myleene Klass, completed the leg from Los
Angeles to Memphis, Tennessee.
