Having been a contestant in the first series of Dancing On Ice in 2006, John was invited back for the 2020 series, but this time he left his skates in the locker as he was on the judging panel!
John joined Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean and Ashley Banjo as part of the "ice panel", commenting on and scoring the celebrity skaters as they learned their new skill.
The 2020 series of Dancing on Ice launched on ITV and STV on Sunday, 5 January 2020. A one-off special, Dancing on Ice at Christmas aired at 7.00pm on Sunday, 22 December.

The 2021 series started on 17 January 2021 with the grand final on 14 March. Strict COVID-safe restrictions have been observed for all involved in the show. John returned from the US to once again be part of the Ice Panel, alongside Jayne, Christopher and Ashley.
