HAY FESTIVAL 2012 - 500 WORDS COMPETITION
1 June 2012: John travelled to the Hay Festival to read one of the winning stories in BBC Radio 2's live broadcast of Chris Evans' 500 Words Short Story Competition. He is pictured below with judge David Walliams, story-writer Millie Haldane and presenter Alex Jones. Millie won second prize in the 10-13 age group with her story, "Splash", which John read live on air.
The standard of all the stories was exceptionally high. The winning entries can be read on the competition website.
The annual Hay Literary Festival, held in the historic town of Hay-on-Wye in Wales, attracts writers from all over the world.
