As current President of the Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC), John has nominated "akt" to be one of the organisation's charities.
akt support LGBTQ+ young people aged 16-25 in the UK who are facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment.
Mermaids
Mermaids has been challenging prejudice and discrimination since 1995 in a bid to make the world a safer and more accepting place for trans and gender-diverse kids and their families. Their helpline, web chat and email services can be a lifeline to parents and young people under 20. They also train teachers to be more aware of gender issues and run weekend residentials and local support groups for families, while offering them legal support and advocacy.
SOS Ride
SOS is a non-profit organization providing active-duty servicemen and women, their families and sweethearts with free transportation, day or night, between the Palm Springs and Ontario International Airports and the USMC Base in Twentynine Palms, CA. The organisation's goal is to establish SOS stations near every military base in the US.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a national UK charity and centre of excellence in training hearing dogs to alert deaf people to everyday household sounds and danger signals in the home, work place and in public buildings. There are currently over 750 working partnerships in the country.
John is a celebrity Ambassador for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and is sponsoring a puppy to become a Hearing Dog.
Down's Syndrome Scotland
Down’s Syndrome Scotland is currently celebrating its 30th year of providing services, support and information to people with Down’s syndrome, their families and professionals. They work to help people with Down’s syndrome reach their full potential.

Dogs Trust
Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity with 17 nationwide rehoming centres. They never put a healthy dog down.
You will see John's name as an option in the "Where did you hear about Dogs Trust?" section.
Stonewall
Stonewall works to achieve equality and justice for lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transexual people.
When prompted why you chose to donate to Stonewall, specify that you are donating in John's name.
The Make A Difference Trust
The Make A Difference Trust brings together the British entertainment community and its audiences to raise funds to support people living with HIV and AIDS, and those in the entertainment industry facing hardship as a result of long term medical conditions.
Tŷ Hafan, the family hospice for young lives
Based in South Wales, Tŷ Hafan offers comfort, care and support for life-limited children and young people and is dedicated to improving the quality of life of their whole family.

Cardiac Risk in the Young
CRY is a national charity saving young lives and supporting those affected by young sudden cardiac death. Tom Reid, who was a huge fan of John’s, died from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS) in 2009. Please help to prevent further deaths by supporting CRY.
